Our Grenache Rosé is produced using the saignée method followed by a fermentation in neutral, French oak barrels, producing a notably robust rosé.  Aromatic notes of peach and strawberry prevail on the nose, and are echoed on the palate.  The exceptional mouth-feel is reconciled with a mouthwatering acidity borne from the hot-day, cool-night climate of Mendocino County.  This wine will pair wonderfully with appetizers, barbecue, or simply chillaxin' on your patio.

2012 Weather

In 2012 Mendocino enjoyed nearly ideal growing conditions.  Rains in March gave way to a mild spring, temperatures rose slowly as summer developed with characteristically foggy mornings keeping overnight temperatures low and light afternoon breezes resulting in warm crisp growing conditions and plenty of sunlight illuminating flawlessly developing clusters.  As harvest approached temperatures began to soar with August highs in the 100°F range, allowing the grape sugars to begin developing.  Warm weather inland continued coercing marine fog over the hills cooling the grapes overnight, which develop natural acidity to balance the climbing sugar levels.  The 2012 climate in Mendocino produced expressively balance wines with elegance, subtlety, and nuance.

Tasting Notes

This rose introduces itself with its striking color.  It then open on the nose with wild strawberries and white peach that is echoed on the palate and become accompanied by notes of watermelon rind and cucumber leaving a fresh clean finish.  This wine pairs wonderfully with clams or oysters on the half shell, prosciutto wrapped melon, Dungeness crab or simply Chilaxin' on your patio.  Cheers!
